Suspect Arrested for Child Molestation Charges
** Detectives Seek Additional Persons with Information **
Spokane County Sheriff’s Detectives, assigned to the FBI Child Exploitation/Human Trafficking Unit, developed probable cause to charge a suspect with two counts of Child Molestation 1st Degree in November of 2024.
Through their ongoing investigation, Investigators developed information that indicates the suspect may have had contact with several additional young children in addition to the known victim, who was 7 or 8 at the time. They also believe the suspect may have been using the internet and apps like Telegram or others to contact potential victims, communicate with others about sexual acts with children/juveniles, or view/download/exchange images/video depicting Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM).
With this information, we are releasing the suspect’s photos as Investigators ask anyone who knows the suspect, may have knowledge of his interactions with potential juvenile victims, his activities online relating to Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM) or know of parents with children who may have been victimized to contact Detective T. Keys assigned to the FBI Child Exploitation/Human Trafficking Unit at 509-934-7831, reference 24-10138496.
In September of 2024, the FBI received an anonymous ‘TIP’ regarding Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM) and other child sexual abuse being posted online, via Telegram, by the suspect Mykola G. Rakovskyi, who was 21 at the time. (Rakovskyi uses the first name of ‘Nick’ or ‘Nicholas’)
Through the investigation, Detectives developed probable cause, including statements made by Rakovskyi (AKA ‘Nick’), to charge him with two counts of Child Molestation 1st Degree, and he was arrested and booked into the Spokane County Jail on November 18, 2024. He remains in jail on these two charges and a Stevens County warrant for two additional counts of Child Molestation 1st Degree, with his total bond set at $200,000.00.
As the investigation continued, Detectives learned Rakovskyi used apps (Telegram), email accounts, and online platforms such as Instagram to communicate with others. They also recovered a large quantity of videos/images believed to be CSAM or similar indications of male and female child sexual abuse/exploitation materials.
Investigators believe additional people may have had contact with Rakovskyi, communicated with him, possibly know of other victims, or have information that may assist Detectives with this ongoing investigation.
For this reason, we are releasing photos of Rakovskyi (AKA ‘Nick’) and ask anyone with information that could help with this investigation to contact Detective T. Keys at 509-934-7831, reference 24-10138496.
