Major Crime Detectives Make Arrest in 2024 Drive-By Shooting
Yesterday, Spokane County Sheriff’s Office Major Crime Detectives investigating a drive-by shooting that occurred on December 13, 2024, served a search warrant with the assistance of the SWAT Team. As a result of this months-long investigation, Detectives developed probable cause to arrest the suspect, and he was booked into jail.
On December 13, 2024, just after 11:00 pm, Spokane County Sheriff’s Deputies, Airway Heights Police Officers, and Kalispel Tribal Police Officers responded to several reports of multiple gunshots heard in the area of N. Washington Street and E. Spence Street in Medical Lake.
Deputies arrived and discovered an unknown suspect fired several shots at a car parked in front of a residence.
Through their initial investigation, they learned no one was injured, but a vehicle had what appeared to be several bullet holes in it.
Talking with the adult male and female victims, an SUV was observed leaving the area, but they could not identify who was inside. However, they believed this shooting was a result of the female victim’s ex, who was angry with them and had been harassing and threatening both of them because they were now dating. They identified 40-year-old Anthony M. Gallup as a possible person of interest.
Soon after, Deputies contacted Gallup at his residence on E. Wellesley Avenue in the 2400 block. Gallup confirmed he knew the victims and had been arguing with them but denied any knowledge of the shooting. He also said he does not own an SUV and only drives a sedan car.
Deputies noted Gallup was agitated during the contact and told them he had not been in Medical Lake that night because he was heavily intoxicated at his home.
Without evidence showing Gallup was indeed involved in the shooting, he was not arrested.
Days later, Major Crimes Detectives began working on the investigation.
Months later, on June 26, 2025, at approximately 6:35 am, Detectives, with the assistance of SWAT, served a valid search warrant at Gallup’s residence on Wellesley, and he was safely detained.
Following an interview, Investigators developed probable cause to charge Gallup with felony Drive-By Shooting and misdemeanor Harassment, and he was transported and booked into the Spokane County Jail.
This remains an active investigation, and no additional information is available at this time.
