Deputies Recover Knives and a set of Metal/Brass Knuckles
Spokane Valley Deputies responded to the report of a person with a weapon call. The caller said the suspect shattered the glass of a door, stated people were trying to kill him, and he was armed with a knife. Deputies located the suspect a short distance away and took him into custody. They recovered two knives and a set of metal/brass knuckles during a search of the suspect. Following the investigation, Deputies transported and booked the suspect into jail for felony and misdemeanor charges.
On July 28, 2025, at approximately 1:20 am, Spokane Valley Deputies responded to a business in the 15000 block of E. Indiana for a reported person with a weapon call. The employee told Deputies that the male suspect, later identified as 41-year-old Joshua J. Arkinson, approached the hotel from the wooded area behind it and began banging on the glass of the door, breaking it.
The employee noticed Arkinson was holding a knife while saying people in the forest were trying to kill him. He estimated the cost to repair the door at $1,000 and wanted to pursue charges for the damage, but declined to press charges for being threatened by Arkinson.
Responding Deputies located Arkinson on Indiana, standing in the roadway, west of the business. He continued to act erratically but partially followed commands. Deputies took him into custody once additional Deputies arrived to assist.
With reports that Arkinson was armed with a knife, Deputies frisked him for weapons, recovering two knives and a set of metal/brass knuckles, which are classified as a dangerous weapon and their possession is prohibited per Washington RCW 9.41.250.
Arkinson was advised of his rights, and he agreed to answer questions. He told Deputies that five girls were coming to kill him. He said he broke the window to get the attention of law enforcement, and he knew he had metal/brass knuckles.
Deputies noted Arkinson kept frantically looking around and seeing people around him who weren’t really there.
Arkinson was transported and booked into the Spokane County Jail for Malicious Mischief 2nd Degree and Possession of a Dangerous Weapon.
