Major Crime Detectives Investigating Fatal Shooting
Spokane County Sheriff’s Deputies and Major Crime Detectives responded to the scene of a fatal West Plains shooting.
On April 21, 2025, at approximately 2:10 pm, Spokane County Deputies responded to reports of a shooting near W. Geiger Boulevard and S. Hayford Road. The caller advised that a male had just shot another male and that two or three subjects (including the shooter) were leaving the area on foot.
Deputies arrived within minutes and found the victim lying near the roadway and advised that he didn’t have a pulse. They attempted CPR, but unfortunately, the victim was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Deputies secured the crime scene, and a perimeter was quickly established.
An adult subject was observed running through a field in the area. He was contacted and detained (not arrested) pending the information learned during the ongoing investigation.
No additional information is available at this time.
This scene is active, and Hayford Road north of Geiger Boulevard is closed. Please avoid the area for several hours while this investigation continues.
