SCIU Investigation of Construction Site Burglaries Leads to a Search Warrant and the Arrest of the Suspect, a 27-Time Convicted Felon
SCIU Detectives Add Additional Charges Today
Spokane County Investigative Unit (SCIU) Detectives, investigating construction site burglaries, identified a possible suspect. Later, they established probable cause to arrest the suspect and obtained a search warrant for his home and one of his work sites. The suspect, a 27-Time convicted felon, was booked into jail on several felony theft and burglary charges.
This afternoon, SCIU Detectives added three additional felony charges after linking him to another burglary where approximately $13,100 worth of construction material was stolen.
Spokane County Investigative Unit (SCIU) Detectives identified a possible suspect in two recent construction site burglaries.
One burglary was reported in North Spokane County on May 7, 2025, in which the suspect stole an estimated $3,750 worth of new lumber, OSB sheets, and a large amount of lap siding from the business.
The second was reported in Spokane Valley on May 27, 2025. The suspect cut a fence and disabled cameras, causing approximately $800 in damages, when he stole an estimated $3,000 worth of roof underlayment from a business.
With the assistance of Real-Time Crime Center Analysts, SCIU Detectives identified the possible suspect as 49-year-old Shawn C. Wallwork and the truck he was believed to be driving. Through the ongoing investigation, Detectives developed probable cause to arrest Wallwork for two counts of Theft 2nd Degree and two counts of Burglary 2nd Degree.
NOTE: SCIU Detectives arrested Wallwork on May 15, 2024, for Theft 1st Degree, Possession of Stolen Property 1st Degree, and Trafficking in Stolen Property 1st Degree. He was later released on his own recognizance after appearing in Spokane County Superior Court.
On June 2, 2025, SCIU Detectives asked Deputies in marked patrol cars to conduct a traffic stop of Wallwork’s truck. Wallwork was arrested, and his vehicle was seized as evidence.
With Wallwork in custody, SCIU Detectives served a search warrant at his residence in the 700 block of S. Felts Road and a job site near E. 7th Avenue and S. Sherman Street.
Wallwork was booked into the Spokane County Jail for two counts of Burglary 2nd Degree and two counts of Theft 2nd Degree. He is also being held on charges from his arrest on May 15, 2024, Theft 1st Degree, Possession of Stolen Property 1st Degree, and Trafficking in Stolen Property 1st Degree. His total bond for all charges is currently set at $20,000 by Spokane County Superior Court Commissioner T. Rugel.
This afternoon, SCIU Detectives linked Wallwork to additional burglaries at a business near E. Francis Avenue and N. Florida Street. The victim business reported the suspect (Wallwork) is estimated to have stolen $13,104.76 worth of construction materials and caused an estimated $2,343.50 in damages to the fence.
SCIU Detectives added additional charges of Burglary 2nd Degree, Malicious Mischief 2nd Degree, and Theft 1st Degree.
A check of Wallwork’s criminal history shows he is a 27-Time Convicted Felon including multiple convictions for charges of Burglary, Theft 2nd Degree, Money Laundering, Malicious Mischief 1st and 2nd Degree, Theft and Possession of a Stolen Motor Vehicle, Retail Theft with Extenuating Circumstances, Unlawful Possession of Firearm 1st Degree, and Assault 3rd Degree.
