Major Crimes Detectives Investigate Death and Violent Altercation at a Residence on N. Wilson Court

Spokane County Sheriff’s Major Crimes Detectives are investigating an incident that occurred at a residence on N. Wilson Ct. in Mead.    Responding Deputies located a deceased adult male in the home and observed obvious signs of a struggle.  While a search for a possible suspect was taking place, hospital staff reported an adult female had just arrived with what appeared to be non-life-threatening stab wound(s).  Investigators learned the injured female and the deceased male are known to each other, but what occurred leading up to this violent and deadly incident is unknown.

There is no known ongoing threat to the community stemming from this incident.

On April 13, 2024, at approximately 1:55 am, Spokane County Sheriff Deputies responded to a reported occupied residential burglary in the 15100 block of N. Wilson Court.  Callers reported hearing yelling, loud bangs, or possible shots.

Deputies arrived and located an adult male, believed to be the homeowner, deceased inside the home.  A juvenile female who had been inside the residence sleeping but fled when the incident began was uninjured.

With the assistance of a Spokane Police Department K9 Unit, a search for a suspect was conducted but unsuccessful.

As the search was taking place, hospital staff called and reported an adult female had just arrived with what appeared to be non-like-threatening stab wound(s).

Deputies responded and contacted the female while Deputies at the scene secured the residence to preserve evidence.

Major Crimes Detective and Spokane County Sheriff’s Office Forensic Unit personnel responded to the location and are in the early stages of this investigation.

Investigators do not believe this was a random incident, as the injured female and the deceased male knew each other, and there is no known threat to the community in connection with this investigation.

The Spokane County Medical Examiner’s Office will release the name of the decedent, along with his cause and manner of death, at a later time, when appropriate.

As this investigation is in its early stages, no further information is available at this time.
