Major Crime Detectives Investigate the Discovery of a Deceased Person Found in the Spokane River Near Upriver Dam
Spokane County Sheriff’s Office Major Crime Detectives are at the scene of a body discovered in the Spokane River. They will be working with the Spokane County Medical Examiner’s Office to confirm the identity of the decedent, along with cause and manner of death.
On June 11, 2025, at approximately 6:50 am, the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office received information regarding a possible deceased person in the Spokane River near Upriver Dam.
Major Crime Detectives and the Spokane County Forensic Unit responded to the scene, and a body was located and recovered.
As the body appears to have been in the water for some time, Detectives will be working with the Spokane County Medical Examiner’s Office to identify the person, along with their cause and manner of death.
This remains an ongoing investigation, and no further information is available at this time.
When appropriate, after a positive identification is made and the next of kin is notified, the Spokane County Medical Examiner’s Office will release the name of the person.
