Deputies Investigate and Arrest Deer Park Occupied Residential Burglary Suspect
Assisting SCIU Detectives Add Charges for Expressway Burglary
Deputies responded to an occupied residential burglary in Deer Park. The suspect reportedly stole a vehicle from the home, struck another vehicle when he fled from the location, and, shortly after, crashed the stolen vehicle into a disabled parking sign pole at Yokes. There, he attempted to steal alcohol, but store employees prevented the theft. Deputies later identified the juvenile suspect and arrested him for a multitude of felony and misdemeanor charges. Thankfully, no one was injured during these incidents. However, the victims were left emotionally shaken, in addition to the need to navigate the repair of their damaged vehicles, estimated to cost thousands of dollars.
With information and evidence discovered during this investigation, SCIU Detectives linked this juvenile suspect to the Expressway burglary and added additional felony charges.

On May 20, 2025, at approximately 11:45 pm, Spokane County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a residential burglary call at a residence near E. D Street and S. Forest Avenue in Deer Park. The caller stated that her house had been broken into, and someone had stolen all the keys to their vehicles. She also reported that their white Chevrolet truck was stolen.
A few minutes before the burglary call, Deputies were alerted to a call regarding a white Chevrolet truck that crashed into a sign at Yoke’s, and the caller believed the driver might be intoxicated. The driver/suspect left the vehicle running, entered the store, unsuccessfully attempted to shoplift alcohol, and was last seen walking toward McDonalds.
According to information gathered from victim/witness statements and evidence, it appears that the suspect(s) pried the screen off a back window and crawled through to gain entry. Once inside, they grabbed all the vehicle keys and left the home through the front door after unlocking it. As the suspect drove away in the victim’s stolen Chevy truck, they hit another car parked at the residence, causing damage. Sometime after leaving in the stolen truck, they arrived at Yokes, where the driver crashed into a disabled parking sign pole and attempted to steal alcohol from the store.
Through their investigation, Deputies identified the suspect as a 15-year-old juvenile male.
On May 22, 2025, Deputies conferred with SCIU Detectives, who were already working on the Expressway burglary and other crimes in the area.
Through additional statements and evidence gained, SCIU Detectives developed probable cause to charge the 15-year-old juvenile male with additional charges in connection with the May 5, 2025, Burglary at Expressway.
Later that day, at approximately 8:30 pm., Deputies located the 15-year-old juvenile male and arrested him. He was transported and booked into the Spokane County Juvenile Detention Center for Residential Burglary, Theft of a Motor Vehicle, Malicious Mischief 1st Degree, Malicious Mischief 2nd Degree, Malicious Mischief 3rd Degree, Theft 3rd Degree, and two counts of Hit and Run-Property Damage.
The victim estimated the total damage caused by the suspect to be over $15,000.
SCIU Detectives added charges of Burglary 2nd Degree, Theft 2nd Degree, and Malicious Mischief 2nd Degree in connection to the Expressway Burglary.
This, the Expressway Burglary, as well as additional reported criminal activity in Deer Parks, remain active investigations.

Juvenile Suspect, a Convicted Felon, Arrested for Several Felonies in Connection with a Burglary Investigation and Other Crimes Committed in Deer Park
Spokane County Sheriff’s Investigative Unit (SCIU) Detectives obtained a search warrant for the residence of a previously convicted felon and suspect of several recent crimes in Deer Park, including a commercial burglary, and an incident where he and another suspect is suspected of shooting into an unoccupied vehicle. The Warrant Service Group (WSG), a small contingent of SWAT, assisted SCIU with serving the search warrant due to the 15-year-old suspect’s previous violent and uncooperative behavior (convicted for Assault 3rd Degree on Law Enforcement, Commercial Burglary) and the belief that he was armed with a handgun. The juvenile suspect was uncooperative, would not follow commands, and ran from WSG Deputies. Seeing he was unarmed and not wanting to use force to stop the juvenile suspect, WSG members gave chase. Unfortunately for the suspect, he ran toward the staging area, where additional Deputies were waiting. With nowhere to run, WSG and Deputies safely took him into custody without further incident.
The investigation into the criminal acts of this suspect and one or more additional juvenile suspects is ongoing, and additional arrests/charges are possible.
SCIU Detectives ask anyone with information regarding the recent criminal activity believed to be associated with these juveniles, or who can provide information regarding property or other evidence that might help with this investigation, to call Detective B. Humphrey at 509-477-3028.
On May 5, 2025, Spokane County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to Expressway, 115 E. Crawford Street, for a reported burglary. During the call, Deputies received information that two male suspects, believed to be juveniles, broke a window to enter the business. Both suspects (5’06”- 5’08”) wore dark clothing and masks. The suspects stole cash, vapes, cigars, Brisk iced tea, and two cans of beer, with an estimated value of $1,000, while causing $400 in damages.
On May 7, 2025, Deputies responded to a reported shooting incident on E. B Street, east of S. Colville Road. Deputies learned from victim and witness statements that earlier in the morning, at approximately 3:30 am, three or four possible gunshots were heard. Deputies observed what appeared to be three separate bullet holes in the victim’s vehicle, causing an estimated $5,000 in damage.
With information learned through the initial investigation conducted by Deputies, SCIU Detectives continued working on these incidents and possibly others committed in the Deer Park area. Investigators requested and, with supporting probable cause connected to the burglary, were granted a search warrant for the 15-year-old suspect’s residence near E. Crawford Street and S. Weber Road.
On the morning of May 13, 2025, SCIU Detectives, assisted by the WSG, served the search warrant. The 15-year-old, previously convicted felon, suspect was uncooperative and would not follow commands.
He eventually exited the residence, with his cell phone in hand, while displaying his middle finger toward the Deputies. He continued to not follow commands, despite being told multiple times he was not free to leave and that he was under arrest. The suspect suddenly turned and ran from WSG members. With the suspect not having a weapon in his hands, and due to his age, despite his previous felony convictions and the nature of his current criminal actions, WSG members chose not to use force to stop his attempt to flee, knowing additional Deputies were nearby and ready to assist.
Unwittingly, the suspect ran in the direction where additional Deputies had staged, with WSG members giving chase. As they closed in, the suspect, realizing he had nowhere to go, put his hands up, got on the ground as instructed, and was safely taken into custody.
The suspect was transported and booked into the Spokane County Juvenile Detention Center for new felony charges: Commercial Burglary 2nd Degree, Malicious Mischief 3rd Degree, Theft 2nd Degree, and a misdemeanor charge of Obstructing Law Enforcement.
During a search of the suspect’s room, SCIU Detectives recovered and seized several vape pens still in their packaging, and clothing he appeared to be wearing at the time of the burglary.
The investigation into the criminal acts of this suspect and one or more additional juveniles is ongoing, and additional arrests/charges are possible.
SCIU Detectives ask anyone with information regarding the recent criminal activity believed to be associated with these juveniles, or who can provide information regarding property or other evidence that might help with this investigation, to call Detective B. Humphrey at 509-477-3028.
